The goal of the Shelf component is
to forecast flooding and flooding risk along the eastern seaboard of
Canada.
A storm surge forecast model has been developed at
Dalhousie (DalCoast)
and is run operationally by Environment Canada. As part of this project, a
tide gauge has been installed at Charlottetown to provide data to test the
forecasts of the surge model.
The links to the left, under "Flooding Forecast", provide access to movies of the
storm surge forecasts and the comparisons of the forecasts against the
independent sea level observations.
