North Atlantic Basin

This project is fundamentally about determining ocean conditions and applying this information to the study of various questions about the marine environment.  Meaningful answers to these questions generally require information on ocean conditions that is more reliable than results obtained with models alone, with better coverage in both space and time than is available from data alone.  Consequently, there is a strong focus on combining ocean models with ocean observations (i.e., data assimilation) to obtain the required information.
