This project is
fundamentally about determining ocean conditions and applying this
information to the study of various questions about the marine
environment. Meaningful answers to these questions generally require
information on ocean conditions that is more reliable than results
obtained with models alone, with better coverage in both space and time
than is available from data alone. Consequently, there is a strong focus
on combining ocean models with ocean observations
(i.e., data assimilation) to obtain the required information.
